Flexible day/evening/weekend hours based upon the needs of the college
Provide instruction in the Sustainable Landscape Horticulture Associate Degree and Horticulture Technician programs with an emphasis in plants and greenhouse management. Duties to include, but not limited to; oversight of the plant lab, greenhouse and greenhouse mechanicals and functionality which includes potential weekend work; oversee design, development, and maintenance of Environmental Campus and surrounding grounds to be used in the delivery of the program; oversee the activities of the part time Horticulture Technician; and remain current with the horticulture and landscaping trends in the industry.
Responsible for placing learning first and providing educational experiences for learners in various formats, schedules, and in various locations in accordance with the mission of the college inclusive of: facilitating learning, assessing student performance, as well as instruction and outcomes, developing and maintaining current/relevant course materials, and communicating with the community, other schools, the college, the division, and team members. Provide 5 Star Service throughout all customer interactions.
Job Responsibilities
Maintain proficiency using common landscape equipment, tools and software. Greenhouse and landscape maintenance of the Environmental campus is required. This position requires the coordination of off-site locations for field experiences, management of shared facilities including labs, supporting Instructional Assistants, and the provision of Service Learning opportunities. Faculty ensure the safety of students and Instructional Assistants in potentially hazardous work environments.

  • Bachelor‚ s degree and training preparing the individual for the occupational area being taught required with a minimum of two years (4,000 hours) recent related occupational experience in landscape design, planning, construction and maintenance; nursery operation and management; greenhouse operation and management; or lawn and garden care operation and management, or a similar field.
  • Comprehensive understanding of sustainable landscape/horticulture, including the following: integrated plant health care, including planting design, installation, and maintenance; greenhouse and nursery production, Wisconsin plant communities; relevant tools and equipment; edible and herb garden production and turf grass/lawn care management.
  • Experience in the safe use and operation of landscape and horticulture tools and equipment.
  • Knowledge of year-round, seasonally appropriate activities and equipment.
    Other Qualifications
  • Master‚ s degree preferred.
  • Two years teaching or training experience beneficial and/or one year of curriculum design/development experience.
  • A valid State of Wisconsin Commercial Pesticide Applicator Certifications (Category 3.0 & 3.1) desirable.
  • Other green industry memberships/certifications desirable.
  • Knowledge and experience in the use of various landscape layout software.
  • Experience with computer assisted instruction and software.
  • Working knowledge of PC software in a Windows environment including computer-aided design, GIS, and GPS.
  • Experience desired in delivering instruction by alternative methods such as video conference or online.
  • Possess excellent classroom delivery skills, which encourage success and participation on the part of students.
  • Must be innovative and able to collaborate with other staff for developing curriculum for classroom instruction.
  • Must be well motivated and have a strong interest in contributing to the success of students and the College.
  • Positive human relations and effective written and oral communication skills essential.
  • Exemplify college values in all staff and student interactions, as well as services delivered.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and relate successfully with staff, students, and citizens of diverse cultural, social or educational backgrounds.
  • Fluent, bilingual individual is desirable.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
